013 Love and Logic - Jim Fay & Charles Fay
I have been telling Emily I would read this for a while and I finally fulfilled my oath. I am certainly not qualified to talk about the theories and science behind the book, but it came highly recommended by people that are, so I’m taking it in and trying to implement the strategies. I’ll keep you posted on the results.
Emily and I got a new point-and-click camera for our upcoming trip to Ethiopia. To learn to use it I started photographic the “stuff” of my daily life. Occasionally I take the camera with me to work. There I have set up a tiny desktop “studio” to photograph items on. It consists of a portable tracing table, some clear tape, and an 8.5”x11” piece of copy machine paper. Here are the first 2 in the series; Pink Pearl erasers, and bulldog clips.
My friend Tracy came over with a few other people a few nights ago. I did a little bread baking demo and this is the photo she took of the results.
My very good, and incredibly quotable friend Sara had her housewarming party tonight. I’ve sort of decided that I am going to try and make gifts for people whenever I have a chance so I started with her. I made her this plaque to commemorate what I consider her finest quote to date…”That’s the last time you sass a Babler.” I think I will heed her warning.
I’ve been busy
Hey loyal readers, I know it’s been a while since I posted any new creations…but I’ve been crazy busy. That’s not an excuse, just reality. Anyway, I’ve got something new in the works for a very good friend. I’ll have pictures up this weekend. All I’ll say is it features neon pink, lime, and orange and has a lot of attitude. Stay tuned!
Our adoption shirts finally came in, they look great. So here is a shot of the shirts and a look at the digital file of the logo I designed for them. If you ordered a shirt, once again, THANK YOU!
Jeff and Alysa Bajenaru had me and a few other people over tonight and I did a little bread baking demo. It was a blast, and we made some delicious loaves of bread. We promptly destroyed said loaves of bread…but here is the photographic evidence that they existed.
My newest bread attempts on the left is a basic 40% whole wheat with chopped walnuts. On the right is my first attempt at using Buckwheat flour, which I ground myself because sunflower market was out of pre-ground flour. I don’t know how they taste, but they looked and smelled great.
I designed some slides for a financial talk at second mile. They were used tonight so, I can post them now. “Bling, Bling!”
March 1, 2010: Chopin turned 200 today. For me music requires and emotional connection or I can’t really understand it. This will make you weep if you listen hard enough. Happy Birthday Chopin!
my tongue is in a good place”

A good cook is like a sorceress who dispenses happiness
- Elsa Schiaparelli”
— I’m not suggesting that we should find our ultimate happiness in food. But we are only kidding ourselves if we act like eating fresh baked bread doesn’t meet an emotional need.
My fantasy football league is a pretty big deal. This is the logo I have been working on for my team.
The last time I drove from Tucson to Kansas City I took our camera along. There is about a 150 mile stretch from Tucumcari, NM to Liberal, KS that got stuck in the motor lodgey, “route 66” portion of American History. I love it. My favorite part of these pictures is that I didn’t stop, or get out of the car. All on the fly.
